Mick Murray was elected to the Western Australian Parliament as the Member for Collie on 10 February 2001, and has been re-elected as the Member for Collie-Wellington in 2005 and Collie-Preston in 2008 and 2013.

Prior to entering parliament, Mick was a mechanic, employed at a large coal mine near Collie for nearly 25 years and a vocal supporter for workers’ rights as the local union delegate.  He has also served on the local shire Council and on a number of their committees.

Mick is currently the Shadow Minister for Regional Roads; Racing and Gaming; Forestry.  He also is the Shadow Minister for the South West Region.

Mick is married to Anna and has four daughters, four granddaughters and one grandson. He grew up in the small town of Duranillin and moved to Collie before entering high school.  Mick enjoys fishing and diving and was a successful coach/player with local football teams in Collie.
